Shapes and Space

Inside means something that is within a boundary. Outside means beyond the boundary. Example: A ball inside a box is "inside". The same ball on the floor is "outside". Practice: Is the fish inside or outside the bowl? This helps us understand space and position.

We see many shapes in our daily life. A circle is round like a clock. A square has 4 equal sides like a window pane. A triangle has 3 sides like a slice of pizza. A rectangle has 2 long sides and 2 short sides like a door. Look around you and name the shapes you see.

Patterns repeat in a fixed order. Circle, square, circle, square — this is a pattern! Look at the pattern and guess what comes next. Patterns are found in tiles, clothes, and nature. Making patterns helps develop logical thinking.

Above means higher up. Below means lower down. The bird is above the tree. The fish is below the water. Near means close. Far means at a distance. The door is near. The mountain is far. These words help us describe position.
