Who is Heavier?

Gram (g): small unit of weight. 1000 g = 1 kilogram (kg). A pencil ≈ 5 g. A mango ≈ 200 g. A bag of sugar = 1 kg = 1000 g. A bag of rice often = 5 kg. A school bag ≈ 3 kg. Your body weight ≈ 20-30 kg. Weigh yourself: how many kg? Using the right unit: "I weigh 25 kg" NOT "I weigh 25 g" (that would be like weighing a pencil!).

Weighing machines have dials or digital displays. Bathroom scale: for weighing people in kg. Kitchen scale: for cooking in g or kg. Find the largest number on the scale — that is the maximum weight. Weight depends on amount, not material. 3 kg = 3 kg regardless of material. Cotton just takes up more space (less dense).
