Point, Line, Line Segment and Ray

A point is an exact location — it has no size, only position. A line extends infinitely in both directions. A line segment is part of a line between two fixed points (has definite length). A ray starts at one point and goes infinitely in one direction. Example: A torch beam is a ray; a ruler edge is a line segment; a dot on paper is a point.
