Ratio compares two quantities of the same type. a:b (read as "a is to b") = a/b. Always express in simplest form (divide by HCF). Example: 15:20 = 3:4 (divide by 5). Unit must be same before forming ratio: cannot compare kg and cm. Ratio has no unit.
