Distance and section ideas on the Cartesian plane.
Coordinate geometry combines algebra and geometry by placing points on a plane using ordered pairs. This makes shape and distance questions more calculable.
The distance formula comes from the Pythagoras theorem applied horizontally and vertically on the coordinate plane. It helps in finding side lengths and checking geometric properties.
The section formula gives the coordinates of a point dividing a line segment in a given ratio. In Class 10, the midpoint idea is especially important and very frequently tested.
The midpoint is simply the point halfway between two coordinates. It supports symmetry questions, geometric proofs and quick line-segment reasoning.

Students should be able to place points correctly, compute distances accurately and divide segments internally using ratios.
