When we look at an object from different directions, we see different shapes. A cup seen from: Top (top view) = circle. Front (front view) = trapezoid. Side (side view) = same as front view. A cube seen from: Top = square. Front = square. The view depends on direction! Architects use "top view" (plan view) to design buildings.
