Dhamma — Ashoka's Principles

Ashoka promoted DHAMMA (Pali for Dharma) — not Buddhism directly but moral principles. Key principles: non-violence (ahimsa), respect for elders and teachers, compassion for all living beings, tolerance for different religions, generous to poor. He sent missionaries to spread these ideas — including his own son Mahendra and daughter Sanghamitra to Sri Lanka.
