Multiplication of Fractions

Multiply numerators together and denominators together. a/b × c/d = ac/bd. Simplify before multiplying (cancel common factors). Fraction of a number: "of" means multiply. 3/4 of 24 = 3/4 × 24 = 18. Mixed numbers: convert to improper fractions first. 1½ × 2⅓ = 3/2 × 7/3 = 21/6 = 7/2 = 3½.
