Acids

Acids taste sour (lemon juice, vinegar). Turn blue litmus RED. Release H⁺ ions in solution. Examples: HCl (hydrochloric acid — in stomach), H₂SO₄ (sulphuric acid), HNO₃ (nitric acid), CH₃COOH (acetic acid in vinegar), citric acid (in citrus fruits). Strong acids: HCl, H₂SO₄ (fully dissociate). Weak acids: CH₃COOH, citric acid.
